![]() ![]() At first, Trump, who had dodged the draft by claiming to have bone spurs, seemed enamored with being Commander-in-Chief and with the national-security officials he’d either appointed or inherited. The four years of the Trump Presidency were characterized by a fantastical degree of instability: fits of rage, late-night Twitter storms, abrupt dismissals. Instead of telling Trump what he wanted to hear, Selva was forthright. “So, what do you think of the parade?” Trump asked Selva. Trump did not understand that Kelly was being sarcastic. “Well, you know, General Selva is going to be in charge of organizing the Fourth of July parade,” he told the President. Kelly joked in his deadpan way about the parade. The subject came up again during an Oval Office briefing that included Trump, Kelly, and Paul Selva, an Air Force general and the vice-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “In our society, there’s only one group of people who are more heroic than they are-and they are buried over in Arlington.” Kelly did not mention that his own son Robert, a lieutenant killed in action in Afghanistan, was among the dead interred there. Kelly could not believe what he was hearing. “This doesn’t look good for me.” He explained with distaste that at the Bastille Day parade there had been several formations of injured veterans, including wheelchair-bound soldiers who had lost limbs in battle. “Look, I don’t want any wounded guys in the parade,” Trump said. That was never clearer than when Trump told his new chief of staff, John Kelly-like Mattis, a retired Marine Corps general-about his vision for Independence Day. The divide was also a matter of values, of how they viewed the United States itself. Struggling to dissuade Trump, officials pointed out that the parade would cost millions of dollars and tear up the streets of the capital.īut the gulf between Trump and the generals was not really about money or practicalities, just as their endless policy battles were not only about clashing views on whether to withdraw from Afghanistan or how to combat the nuclear threat posed by North Korea and Iran. “I’d rather swallow acid,” his Defense Secretary, James Mattis, said. ![]() The generals, to his bewilderment, reacted with disgust. Sure enough, Trump returned to Washington determined to have his generals throw him the biggest, grandest military parade ever for the Fourth of July. The French general in charge of the parade turned to one of his American counterparts and said, “You are going to be doing this next year.” The event seemed to be calculated to appeal to Trump-his sense of showmanship and grandiosity-and he was visibly delighted. Vintage tanks rolled down the Champs-Élysées as fighter jets roared overhead. Macron staged a spectacular martial display to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the American entrance into the First World War. In the summer of 2017, after just half a year in the White House, Donald Trump flew to Paris for Bastille Day celebrations thrown by Emmanuel Macron, the new French President.

![]() "He was excited to see these paintings in a different way," Gomez says. Weschler says Hockney was completely charmed and impressed by Gomez. "Next thing you know, we're driving up to the Hollywood hills up to Mulholland Drive through Laurel Canyon to meet him," Gomez recalls. ![]() Weschler has written extensively about Hockney and thought he'd make an introduction. He puts another gardener raking a grassy lawn that Hockney had shown being watered. He substitutes leaf-blowing gardeners for wealthy Hockney art collectors. "The painting itself was originally going to be called Thursday Afternoon," Gomez explains, "because those are the times that the pool cleaner and the housekeeper would come into the space." And over toward the back, a woman - she's faceless, like all his figures - sweeps the patio near a wall of windows. In Gomez's version, the water darkens to cobalt and instead of a splash there's a man cleaning the pool. In A Bigger Splash, Hockney shows turquoise water in a big pool with a diving board and a big splash of water. The famous English artist began painting rich LA in the 1960s. ![]() The first Gomez painting to catch Weschler's eye was a nearly precise reproduction of a work by David Hockney. There's that guy over there, there's that guy, and that lady that's there. "He'll just say 'Eight.' I'll say, 'Eight what?' He says, 'There's eight workers I can see in my line of vision. "I can be walking along with him," Weschler says. The artist always has laborers in his range of sight, Weschler says. He's done a long essay on Gomez for the new coffee table book Domestic Scenes. These images show "the lush, easy lifestyle of L.A., which is entirely undergirded by armies of domestic workers," says New Yorker magazine writer Lawrence Weschler. Obviously with a performance impact and with occassional bugs, but is interesting nonetheless. It is the WineD3D wrapper library, that converts DX11 calls to OGL. Most didn't seem to work in my context, but there was one that caught my attention and really helped me to partly achieve what i wanted. It is true there is no native DirectX 11 for Windows XP, but there have been attempts in the past to partially implement it on the system, unofficially of course. In special, i was interested on making the DirectX 11 renderer work under XP. I've done a couple more advancements towards Windows XP. The original PCSX2 has neither binaries published for 64-bits, because they see no improvement with current code and it also gives more troubles than usual Also, the emulator can't be completely compiled for 64-bit platforms, however, i've published a guide on how to compile certain components for 64-bit platforms, as some parts can successfully be compiled in 64 bits. I haven't yet, but it should run perfectly fine under XP 圆4 edition. On a side note, anyone tested this under 64-bit Windows XP, or (if native 64-bit is possible) able to compile it for 64-bit? Would be an interesting thing to do. Would it even run at a playable speed on such hardware, though? You're looking at a pre-2004 CPU here pretty much, I might be wrong when paired with a good graphics card but I imagine more recent versions of PCSX2 are more accurate - thus requiring more powerful hardware to run the same content? I might be wrong, I've seldom if ever used it (though have heard negative opinions about its codebase, lol). I will be answering any questions you have regarding my project down below. Unlike fish emulsions, Neptune’s Harvest retains the fish proteins and oils and has no unpleasant odor. The nitrogen and other nutrients are chelated, so they are readily available for plants consumption. It also contains all the micro and macro nutrients naturally found in fish. It is made by a unique cold process that protects the vitamins, amino acids, enzymes and growth hormones. There are many ways to add nutrients to plants and soil, but Neptune’s Harvest is a simple choice that will promote an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.Neptune’s Harvest fish fertilizer is an organic fertilizer made from fresh North Atlantic fish. Most gardeners know about the benefits of fish emulsion fertilizer. Relying upon safe, naturally derived fertilizers could save us a lot of headaches in the future and reduce our reliance on environmentally destructive products.
